Introduction!

My Cousin (right) and I (Left)

Hey y'all! My name is Miriam but my friends call me Mimi. Feel free to call me whichever! If you are wondering about my blog title, Rebel Pomegranate, it's the meaning of my first and last name. Miriam means bitter and rebellious and my last name, Granados, means pomegranate or pomegranate picker. I'm from Dallas. I am a senior and a psych and pre-occupational therapy major. I think the coolest thing about my pre-OT major is that I got to dissect a cadaver, which was slightly unnerving but you get used to it. My favorite class last semester was Cognition which involved neuropsychology so it had to do with different parts of the brain along with their functions. Since I am from Dallas, I am a huge Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan.
My family at a Rangers game
I am also a proud mommy of my German Shepard mix, Deuce! He turned ten years old this past March and I threw him a birthday with his dog cousins. I literally spoil him so much. My apartment doesn't allow big dogs so I always get really upset when I have to leave him with my parents.

I absolutely love to read. One summer I read almost 100 books. I L-O-V-E binge watching shows, Netflix and Hulu are life. My friends and I watched the whole first season of American Horror story in one day. I also Snapchat so much. It's how I tend to say in touch with friends and family back home. I also really love to travel. I've been to a few countries and I went to Cancun this past summer and a few road trips around Texas. I prefer road trips rather than plane rides. I enjoy being in the city but I love hiking and being in nature. I also enjoy playing sand volleyball. I used to play volleyball in middle and high school and I couldn't get enough of it. I am not a big fan of sweets but I am such a carnivore. I can't live without my beef.

  1. I am glad to welcome the return of The Pomegranate to the online story world! And that cognition class sounds very cool; perhaps you will want to do something for this class on meditation and mantras and some of the things the West has been learning from India about mindfulness. And I hope this class will be a fun reading adventure. Do you like comic books and graphic novels? That is something that is really cool about this class compared to the Myth class: Bizzell gave a grant to this class to acquire books and comic books and graphic novels to have in Bizzell for people to read (some on Reserve, some of the shelves). So many good choices, and this time not just online. :-)

  2. Hi Miriam! It's a pleasure to meet you! Your blog is definitely creative; I never knew your name meant rebel/bitter. I learn something new everyday lol. That's awesome that you got to dissect a cadaver. As weird as it sounds, I have always wanted to take Human Anatomy, because it involves cadavers, but I haven't gotten the chance to, hopefully one day. I wish I could read as much books as you do and binge watch my shows. I rarely get the chance with my busy schedule, but when I do find time, it's definitely nice. I prefer road trips compared to plane rides as well! It's so much more fun to take the more scenic route. We can enjoy the world, just a bit better that way. Your dog is precious!! As strange as this is, your nickname was actually my old pups name and it reminds me of her. She passed about 2 1/2 years ago, but we have a new dog that's a corgi and I couldn't live without him! Good luck this semester! I look forward to revisiting your page and reading your stories! :)

  3. Hey Miriam! It was interesting to hear about the cadaver class you had to take for pre-OT. I can't imagine dissecting a body. I am also sad to hear that you can't keep your dog in your current residence, that has to hurt not seeing your dog for extended amounts of time, but he seems really happy in all your pictures. I wish you the best of luck this year in your studies and good luck in the future!

  4. Hey Miriam! I can't handle how decorative your blog is compared to mine! I ought to take notes. I had a friend in anatomy who got to dissect Cadavers, and it drove him nuts. Your dog is cute, but so are cows. I'm surprised to hear someone say they read nearly 100 books in a summer. That's legitimately one book per day. Impressive Intro!

  5. Hello Mimi, I am Blaine Hale and I am also from Dallas. I think we have a lot in common based on the fact you love sand volleyball and call yourself a carnivore. I would also put myself in those same categories. I don't have a dog but my roommate has a dog that is also a German Shepard mix and looks a lot like your Deuce. Also being from Dallas I would like to consider myself the biggest cowboys fan in the class but it looks like you are giving me a run for my money. Hope you have a great time in this class and we meet some time in the future.

  6. Hi Miriam!! I'm Briana and I'm actually from the Fort Worth area. Making the cowboys and the rangers 2 of my favorite sports teams as well! Deuce is ADORABLE and I wish I had a puppy to love on. They truly are a 'mans bestfriend'. Netflix and Hull are part of my daily schedule, so I relate to the binge watching. Have you heard of Spotify partnering with Hulu and you can get both subscriptions for only $5 a month? It's a steal. Good luck this semester!

  7. Hi Mimi,

I loved your introduction post! There are so many people in this class from the Dallas/Fort Worth area, so it is nice to meet another one! I am from Wichita Falls, so that is pretty close by; we always go down to Dallas for fun! Also, reading is one of my favorite passtimes as well. What is your favorite book? Your dog is so cute; I love the clothes and bow ties he wears. Havijng a dog in college is such a great stress-reliever! Good luck on your major and your upcoming OT school, and I certainly wish you the best as you go through this semester!

  8. Hi, Miriam! Your name translation is really cool! It feels like the name of a great band or their star lead. Your German shepard is so cute! Is he really only ten? He does not look a day over two. And I will admit, I have also binge-watched the whole first season of American Horror Story in one day, and I do not regret it one bit.
I hope your semester is going well!

  9. Hi Miriam!

I love the way you have your blog setup, it feelings so soothing and relaxing. I have also taken Anatomy, where I had to dissect the cadavers. Honestly that was one of the best class, but also the hardest science class I have taken here at OU. Your dog is so cute! You read 100 books?! That is crazy! I am not a really big fan of reading, imagining reading that many book just makes me cringe haha. I also binge watch shows on Netflix and Snapchat a lot. Good luck with rest of this class!

  10. Hi, Mimi! I love the title of your blog, that is so cool that those are the meaning of your names. I've never thought to see what mine were. I'm also a psych major but I never took Cognitive. I think my favorite class was abnormal psychology. Did you take that one? I also love to read and binge watch shows. I went through all 13 seasons of Grey's Anatomy (for the like the third time) in probably 5 weeks... haha I can't imagine reading 100 books in a summer though. What were some of your favorites?

  11. Hi Miriam!

I love that you chose to title your introduction based on the meaning of your name, very creative. I love German Shepherds, and your dog looks like such a happy, awesome dog! We also have very similar tastes, as I do not eat very many sugary things, but I love meat.
It was really nice to meet you. Good luck with the rest of the semester and beyond!

  12. Hi Miriam,

I really enjoyed reading your introduction! You blog title is so cool and its so interesting that it is what your name technically means. Psychology is such an interesting field and neuropsychology sounds really interesting but really difficult. Your dog looks adorable. I love dogs and German Shepards are so beautiful. I look forward to reading more of your blog!

  13. Miriam,
I also love reading- but 100 books in one summer is nearly a book per day. Unless those are Dr. Seuss short stories, I think you might be a little bit nuts. Also, Rebel Pomegranate is something to be proud of. If I were you that would totally be a part of my identity. And cute dog! I have been waiting my whole life to get a dog, but I feel like it is such a big commitment because I know I will want to take him/her everywhere. Good luck with the semester!

  14. Hi Miriam! Haha I thought your introduction title was so cute after I read why you picked that title. I heard neuropsychology is a really interesting class to take! If I have time before I graduate, I will definitely think about that course as an option! Books are always so much fun. It’s like tv but better, and probably better for you. Looking forward to your writing!

  15. I appreciate you adding so many pictures of your dog. Seeing dogs always makes my day a little bit better. I, like many others in this comment section, agree that you are probably insane for your book goals. That being said I think it is a great goal that I wish I had the self control to complete. Reading is so important, but so few people still do it a lot.

  16. Nice to finally meet you, MiMi. I have a feeling we'd probably be friends. I also love hiking and reading, and I've finally been introduced to some good Netflix shows (Stranger Things is the GOAT). I'm also a dog person (my friends just bought me a Shiba Inu calendar for next year). Sadly, I don't own any dogs myself. Mom never let us get any more after hers passed away. Still, I will gladly pet and pamper anyone else's dog as if it were my own, because I plan on owning one as soon as I have my own place.
